A Headmistress of a government school in Karnataka’s Dakshina Kannada district landed in trouble after she asked students to raise slogans of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar during the Independence Day celebrations.
The incident occurred at a government school in Manchi in Bantwal taluk.
According to local medias, as part of the independence day celebrations, students were raising slogans of Indian freedom fighters. At the same time, it is alleged that the HM, through a Muslim student, raised ‘Veer Savarkar ki jai’ slogans.
A person attending the celebrations at the school captured the video and posted it on social media leading to an outcry among parents.
SDPI member Basheer forcibly asked the HM to apologize. After asking sorry, He shooted video and spread in social medias.
On Thursday, a meeting was held between the parents and the teachers to address the issue. After apologising, the principal expressed displeasure over posting the video on social media. She also demanded the person who shot the video step up.
As no one sought responsibility, she then approached the Vitla Police Station and filed a complaint. The police, however, were yet to initiate action, if any.
