Man keeps marital status a secret to have sex with woman he met on social media platform

Mangaluru: Mangaluru police have arrested a man for allegedly lying about his marital status to a woman he met on a social media platform and having repeated sexual intercourse with her in Private Lodge. The accused Aneesh Rehman is a resident of Kadaba in Dakshina Kannada, police said.

The victim, 24, had met Aneesh Rehman through Instagram and then fell in love. In her complaint to the police, the woman alleged that Rehman had hidden the fact that he was a married man.

On May 28, Rehman took the victim to a room he booked at the Private Hotel in Mangaluru promising to wed her and then had sexual intercourse. Since then Rehman had sexual intercourse with her for nearly 20 days, the woman alleged.

The woman later found out that Rehman was already married, police said. Dejected, the victim informed her family and filed a police complaint at the Mangalore Women’s Police Station on Monday, June 26.

The police arrested Rehman the same day and booked him under Sections 417, 376 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code. The accused Rehman was produced before a court on Tuesday and subsequently remanded to 15 days of judicial custody. Rehman had a prior case related to the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act filed at the Kavoor Police Station in Mangaluru.
