Indian-origin man stabbed to death in UK | Malayali Flatemate Salman Salim arrested

An Indian-origin man was stabbed to death in London on Friday, two days after a 27-year-old woman from Hyderabad, who was studying in the United Kingdom, was stabbed to death by a Brazilian man at her accommodation in London.

Kerala origin Aravind Sasikumar, 38, was found with knife injuries. The flat accommodated a total of four individuals, including Arvind, his Malayali friend, and two others. The disagreement between the two friends escalated during the late hours of Thursday, culminating in a violent stabbing. Their flatmates immediately informed the police.

The police in a statement said that the victim died at the scene at 1.31 am on Friday on Southampton Way, Camberwell. Salman Salim, 25, was arrested nearby and appeared at Croydon Magistrates’ Court on Saturday accused of murder.

Arrested Salman Salim, also from Kerala. As per information, Salim was a flatmate living in a houseshare with Aravind – who hails from Panampilly Nagar in Kerala.

Sasikumar had been living in the UK for the last 10 years after arriving on a student visa. His family has been informed and is being supported by detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command.

He appeared at Croydon Magistrates’ Court on the same day and was remanded in custody to appear at the Old Bailey on June 20. A post-mortem examination carried out on Friday confirmed Sasikumar died as a result of stab wounds to the chest, the Evening Standard newspaper added.
