Seven people were killed after a truck and two auto cargo autos collided on Friday at Vaddarahalli Bridge of Hospet taluk in Vijayanagara district.
The victims who are residents of Ballari were travelling to Tungabhadra Dam near Hospet in two autos when the accident occurred.
Three seriously injured in the mishap were rushed to the Vijayanagara Institute of Medical Sciences (VIMS) in Ballari. Eight others injured in the accident are being treated at Hospet government hospital.
All six deceased were travelling in cargo autos. Among the dead, five are women and two men. A total of 19 people were travelling in two cargo autos when the mishap took place. The identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained. The incident took place at Hospet Rural Police Station limits.
